Lope Y Fernandez has first mares scanned in foal
The National Stud's young stallion Lope Y Fernandez has had his first four mares scanned in foal. The son of Lope De Vega, who was placed in five Group 1s, is in his first season and stands at a fee of £8,500.
Among the mares scanned in foal are Happy Holly, a half-sister to Group 1 winners Lily Of The Valley and Mubtaahij, the well-related Seven Empires and Spain Blues, the dam of Rockfel Stakes winner Spain Burg.
"Lope Y Fernandez has taken to his new job very well and the support he has received from breeders has been fantastic," said National Stud chairman Teddy Grimthorpe.
"He was a talented racehorse who is an excellent physical type, and given the quality of mares visiting him this year we are optimistic about his future."
