Light Up Our World's Listed success sparks celebration for breeder

Owner-breeder Derek Boocock discusses his interest in the industry

The victory of the Richard Hannon–trained filly Light Up Our World in Saturday’s Listed Coral Distaff at Sandown brought Worcestershire owner–breeder Derek Boocock his greatest racecourse success to date.

The retired engineer has a small band of six mares that he boards at Simon Sweeting’s Overbury Stud and he takes great pleasure from being involved in the industry.

“It was a lovely day for obvious reasons,” says Boocock. “Light Up Our World had been knocking on the door with quite good form and I was quite surprised with the price [20-1].”
