Largest catalogue assembled for ThoroughBid's September Sale
Beswick Brothers' dispersal and a draft from Willie Mullins add intrigue
ThoroughBid has released the catalogue for its September Sale and, comprising of 44 lots, it is the biggest in the company's year-long existence.
A mixed offering for Flat and National Hunt stock has been compiled and on the Flat side features all of owner David Maughan's juveniles, including Sioux Nation's first French winner, along with some talented performers from the Charlie Hills stable.
The National Hunt section includes, for the first time, a draft from the yard of Irish champion trainer Willie Mullins and the dispersal of the Beswick brothers' stock.
Maughan has seven French-trained juveniles catalogued in the sale, which is due to commence at 9am on Friday, September 16. They are headed by Rosie Rocket (lot 14), a winning daughter of Sioux Nation and Benouville, a Siyouni half-sister to Listed Denford Stakes winner and Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere fourth Boitron.
Maughan's septet also includes Cosmic Invasion (21), a filly from the second crop of Cotai Glory who won a Chantilly maiden on her debut and is a half-sister to four winners. Her second dam is a three-parts sister to Sholokhov and Soldier Of Fortune and a half-sister to Zavaleta, second dam of Intense Focus and third dam of Skitter Scatter.
Their owner said: "I’m really looking forward to seeing the bidding begin next Friday, and I wish the best of luck with the two-year-olds I’ve put in there, who still have plenty of scope to be very exciting at three."
Hills' offering includes Papa Don't Preach, who is currently rated 99 and was fourth in the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes last season. The three-year-old Kodiac gelding (13) is a three-parts brother to Coventry Stakes winner and Irish National Stud young sire Nando Parrado.
Mullins consigns five horses in training including Memorable Daise (37), a bumper winner by Presenting and a full-sister to Grade 2 Charleville Cheese Mares' Novice Chase winner Daisy's Gift. They are out of Daizinni, a Dr Massini half-sister to Grade 3-winning chaser Shivermetimber, dam of Peter Marsh Chase winner The Dutchman and the Listed winners Katie Too and The Pirate's Queen.
The dispersal of stock belonging to the Beswick brothers features a mixture of horses in training, youngstock and broodmares with foals at foot. They include Iconic Sky (33), three times a winner over hurdles and a Sixties Icon half-sister to Listed winner Martello Sky. She is sold with her first foal, a filly by Jack Hobbs, at foot and in foal to Golden Horn.
James Richardson, CEO of ThoroughBid, said: “To have the likes of Willie Mullins and Charlie Hills selling with us is great, and we’re also very excited about working with the Beswick Brothers and David Maughan, who have brought a terrific array of bloodstock to this September Sale.”
