Given the relentless nature of the circuit at this time of year, a week without a sales reporting shift is something of a rarity. However, for one reason or another I couldn’t make the Tattersalls Ireland September Sale, so a week off is precisely what I had on my hands during Fairyhouse.

I took the opportunity to escape to the Lake District to recharge my batteries but old habits die hard and I found myself checking results while trying to choose between a trip to the Derwent Pencil Museum or the World of Beatrix Potter. It was a tough choice. So tough, in fact, that I decided to give the home of the world’s first pencil and Peter Rabbit a swerve and went to the pub instead.
