Among the eight runners declared for the fillies' maiden over a mile at Fontainebleau on Thursday (12.40pm/11.40pm BST) are two regally-bred newcomers.

Bred by Knocktoran Stud, Hug is a Dark Angel half-sister to Tie Black who was awarded the 2006 French 1,000 Guineas in the stewards' room and who later finished third in the Prix d'Astarte (now the Prix Rothschild) at Deauville.

Hug's dam, Tender Is Thenight, produced five other winners from ten runners, including Besotted who was second in the Group 2 Prix de Sandringham at Chantilly and the useful all-weather performer Razor Wind.

Tender Is Thenight is a winning half-sister to champion sprinter and miler Last Tycoon who is one of eleven winners, including five stakes scorers, out of Mill Princess.

Tender Is Thenight also has a two-year-old filly by Lawman and a yearling brother to Hug.

While Hug - trained by Fabrice Chappet for Frank McNulty - was never sold at public auction, Tie Black realised €330,000 when sold as a yearling at the 2004 Arqana August Sale.

Hug will be joined in the race by Baltic Duchess, a Gestut Ammerland homebred trained by Andre Fabre and to be ridden by Pierre-Charles Boudot.

She is a Lope De Vega sister to the Group 3-placed Baltic Comtesse and a three-parts sister to Baltic Baroness, who won an important Arc trial for fillies in the 2014 Prix Vermeille.

Also out of the Sadler's Wells mare Born Wild is Baltic Rock, winner of a Listed Derby Trial at Bremen, and Baltic Storm who placed in the same trial two years later.

She also has a two-year-old Shamardal colt and a yearling Sea The Stars colt, both now in Germany.

Born Wild was out of the champion filly Borgia whose remarkable three-year-old campaign saw her win the German Derby and Grosser Preis von Baden, as well as finishing third in the Arc.
