Terrakova makes a winning debut to kickstart her career
She becomes the first scorer for the outstanding Goldikova
Outstanding racemare Goldikova was represented by her first winner on Thursday when her Freddy Head-trained daughter Terrakova landed the Prix de la Capitainerie de Chasse at Chantilly with consummate ease.
The two-year-old, whose sire is none other than Coolmore's perennial champion stallion Galileo, was kept up with the pace throughout by her jockey Maxime Guyon. As the field entered the home straight, Guyon asked his mount for more and she duly pulled clear to win by three and a half lengths.
Owned and bred by the Wertheimer brothers, Terrakova is the second foal out of the daughter of Anabaa who was trained by head to win 14 races at the highest level including three renewals of the Breeders' Cup Mile from 2008 to 2010.
Goldikova also made a successful start to her fantastic career when winning a mile maiden at Chantilly as a two-year-old.
Terrakova is a sister to Goldikovic, a three-year-old colt by Galileo who is yet to make his debut, and a half-sister to a filly foal by Intello.
Goldikova stems from one of the Wertheimers most successful families as she is a daughter of the Blushing Groom mare Born Gold and is a half-sister to the Group performers Gold Round, Galikova and Gold Sound.
Her brother Anodin won the Prix Paul de Moussac and also finished second in three races at the highest level.
Further back it is the family of Group 1 scorers Riviere D'Or, Gold Splash and Gold River.
Given the exploits of her dam and the added influence of Galileo, Terrakova is certainly a name to keep an eye out for.
