Australian breeders have made it clear they do not agree with the proposed changes by Racing Australia whereby owners and breeders will come under the rules of racing.

The new rules for the registration of thoroughbred foals and their owners were announced by the Racing Australia Board earlier this month in the belief that they will be in the best long-term interests of the Australian thoroughbred industry.

They make acceptance into the stud book conditional on foals being registered within 30 days of foaling and their owners being declared within a further 30 days. In doing so foals and owners will come under the Australian rules of racing.
