Stud news in brief: Lanwades and Thenney release fees for 2018

Lanwades Stud in Newmarket and Haras du Thenney in Normandy have both released 2018 coverings fees for their rosters, with the menu at Lanwades remaining the same as this year.

Aside from Algometer finishing a game second in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown in April, Archipenko also supplied a second top-flight winner this year with his Argentinian-bred son Forty One, and will again command a fee of £10,000 for his services.

Sir Percy, whose daughter Alyssa won the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster in September, will again be offered to breeders at a fee of £7,000.

Bobby's Kitten will stand his second season at an unchanged fee of £12,500, while runaway German Derby hero Sea The Moon remains at £15,000.

Reliable Man on the way up

The 2011 Prix du Jockey Club scorer Reliable Man, who had his first crop of runners hit the track this year, has been given a slight price increase at his new home at Thenney. He is up to €7,000.

The son of Dalakhani supplied two German Pattern winners this Flat season in Erasmus and Narella, having stood his first four seasons at Gestut Rottgen in Germany at a fee of €6,000.

Spanish Moon, winner of the 2009 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, has received a rise from €3,000 to €5,000. His son, the Willie Mullins-trained five-year-old Crack Mome, was a close second to Any Second Now in a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Punchestown in January.

New recruits De Treville and Our Ivanhowe will stand for €3,000 and €4,500 respectively.

Leading German sire Areion on the move

Leading German sire Areion will relocate from Gestut Evershorst to Gestut Etzean for the 2018 breeding season, after the two studs reached an agreement about his future.

Areion will remain the property of Evershorst, and the three-time champion German sire looks likely to add a fourth title this year. He is also currently the leading sire of two-year-olds in the country this year by progeny earnings.

Areion was a high-class sprinter and retired to Gestut Evershorst at the turn of the millennium, where he stood the latest season at a fee of €9,500.

The 22-year-old son of Big Shuffle has supplied four Pattern winners in Europe so far this year, including Group 2-winning milers Palace Prince and Wonnemond.

Another son of Big Shuffle, Konig Turf, will relocate to Haras de Corlay for the 2018 breeding season.
