Storm The Stars switched to Germany with stallion career in mind

Storm The Stars will be trained next season by Andreas Wohler in Germany with a future stallion career in mind.

Wohler explained on his website that his owner Sheikh Juma Dalmook al Maktoum is hoping that next season will pave the way for Storm The Stars to stand at stud. He has been flown to Germany after serving four weeks in quarantine.

The four-year-old son of Sea The Stars was bred by Summer Wind Farm in Kentucky out of the Sadler's Wells mare Love Me Only, an unraced half-sister to Giant's Causeway and Group 2 scorer You'resothrilling, dam of champion three-year-old miler Gleneagles and Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Marvellous.

Storm The Stars was trained by William Haggas initially and was a narrow runner-up in two maidens as a two-year-old, finishing behind Golden Horn at Nottingham.

Storm The Stars opened his account on his second start as a three-year-old in a 1m2f maiden, and won a Listed race at Goodwood before finishing third in the Derby to the John Gosden-trained pair of Golden Horn and Jack Hobbs.

Storm The Stars was also runner-up in the Irish Derby to Jack Hobbs.

His penultimate start as a three-year-old saw him win the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York.

He was switched to the yard of Chris Waller in Australia, where he finished third in two Group 2 contests at Randwick.
