Sister to Denman has four-year-old maiden winner at Portrush

Donnchadh Doyle's Monbeg Stables is known for churning out winning pointers and Some Man is the latest in that long line of success.

The Beat Hollow gelding came home five lengths clear of Blue Flight in the four-year-old maiden at Portrush on Saturday.

Some Man is out of Miss Denman, dam of four-time Listed hurdle winner Polly Peachum and Lingfield bumper winner Polly's Pursuit.

Miss Denman is a sister to Gold Cup hero Denman and Tolworth Hurdle scorer Silverburn. The trio are out of Polly Puttens, who has produced nine winners from ten runners, which also includes the classy bumper horse Far Horizon, in a remarkable broodmare career.

Some Man was sold as a three-year-old store by Ballyhampshire Stud for €36,000 to Monbeg Stables at the Goffs Landrover Sale last June, and now looks set for the Goffs UK Aintree Sale in April.

Beat Hollow has sired the likes of Wicklow Brave, a classy dual-performer who won both the Irish St Leger at the Curragh and the Grade 3 County Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham, as well as Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner Cinders And Ashes.

The son of Sadler's Wells stood his first nine seasons at Banstead Manor Stud, and is now in his sixth year at Ballylinch Stud, where he stands at a fee of €6,000.
