Shadwell releases 2018 covering fees for its trio of stallions

Muhaarar, the champion three-year-old sprinter in Europe in 2015, will stand his third season at the Nunnery Stud in Thetford at an unchanged fee of £30,000, after the farm released 2018 covering fees for its trio of stallions.

Mukhadram and Nayef, who will also command unchanged fees of £7,000 and £5,000 respectively.

Four-time Group 1-winning sprinter Muhaarar had his first foals on the ground this year, with Baldovina and her filly foal by the stallion fetching £300,000 at the Goffs London Sale in June.

"It was always the plan for Muhaarar to stand his first three seasons at a fee of £30,000 in order to give breeders equal opportunity," said Richard Lancaster, director of Shadwell Stud.

"That has always been Shadwell's policy. I still believe £30,000 represents outstanding value. Not only does he have the looks to match his exemplary race record, but he's now producing exceptional foals.

"I have seen numerous foals this year and they are good-bodied, strong foals, but the common trait among all of them is balance and athleticism.

"On the back of those first foals and his competitive fee, there have already been plenty of applications for next year and we envisage him being full in the next couple of weeks."

Mukhadram's first yearlings have been well received this year, selling for up to £200,000, while Nayef is now the sire of three elite winners including this year's French St Leger scorer Ice Breeze and Classic sire Tamayuz.

"The first yearlings by Mukhadram have sold well and I've been particularly pleased with who has been buying them at the sales," added Lancaster.

"His stock will be given every chance to succeed and we look forward to his first two-year-olds making their debuts next year.

"Nayef continues to be a model of consistency. If you want to breed a winner, look no further. His offspring are operating at a winners-to-runners ratio of more than 50 per cent and he seems to throw up a Group horse each year, which is a phenomenal feat."

Muhaarar and Mukhadram will be paraded at Beech House Stud during the Tattersalls December sales for five days beginning Saturday, December 2.
