Sevenna Star and Jaega make it a magic Monday for Galileo

Galileo's reputation as a broodmare sire was bolstered on Monday as a pair of horses out of his daughters Farranjordan and Sevenna entered the Classic picture courtesy of some impressive performances.

The first of the two mares is the dam of Jaega, who made her debut for her owner-breeder Newtown Anner Stud in Leopardstown's opening 1m2f fillies maiden and skipped clear to win by an impressive six and a half lengths.

By another Coolmore superstar in Australian champion Fastnet Rock, Jaega is bred on the same cross that produced Oaks heroine Qualify and with Jaega holding an Irish Oaks entry of her own for later this year, she could yet go on to become another star for this potent combination.

Bred to succeed over longer distances, the filly is a half-sister to the winning Corbata - later renamed Red Marvel when sold to Hong Kong, where she is trained by John Size.

This is a family that has previously been nurtured by Hampshire nursery Meon Valley Stud as Farranjordan's dam, One So Marvellous is a sister to Meon's 1998 Juddmonte International heroine One So Wonderful and the trio all hail from one of Meon Valley Stud's founding mares in One In A Million.

Jaega's pedigree also features the stakes performers Alnasr Alwasheek - winner of the Group 2 Dante Stakes - and Relatively Special, who was third in the 1994 running of the Irish 1,000 Guineas.

The Fastnet Rock/Galileo cross has been used to great effect since Qualify came to the fore and has since yielded top-level stars in Intricately, Rivet and Zhukova.

A little over 20 minutes later, Galileo struck again in eyecatching fashion as a broodmare sire, once again courtesy of a Danehill-sired stallion, as the John Gosden-trained Sevenna Star strolled to a 14-length success on his seasonal reappearance at Windsor, breaking his maiden in the process.

He is one of a number of horses to have been produced by crack Australian sire Redoute's Choice when he shuttled to the Aga Khan's Haras de Bonneval for two seasons from 2013 and is out of the Group 3-winning Sevenna.

She has produced three winners prior to Sevenna Star in the Group 3-winning Rock Of Gibraltar mare Savanne and the Listed-winning pair Samurai and Sassella. The further family includes German Group 2 scorer Scatina and the southern hemisphere performers Replicator and Golden Treasure.

Like Jaega, Sevenna Star boasts a Classic entry of his own having been entered for the Derby and he could now head to York to take in the Dante Stakes - a race won by former Gosden inmate Golden Horn in 2015 on his way to taking the Epsom showpiece.
