Remarkable 16th straight victory for daughter of Street Cry

Winx strode clear for a 16th consecutive victory at Rosehill on Saturday when she landed the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes.

The five-year-old daughter of Street Cry began the superb sequence by winning the Group 3 Sunshine Coast Guineas in 2015, and Saturday's win marked her 11th success at the highest level.

Among her top-flight wins are two successes in the Cox Plate and another in the valuable Doncaster Mile. Winx has shown her impressive versatility in terms of trip by winning races from 6½f - 1m3f.

Magic Bloodstock Racing, managed by Peter Tighe, purchased her from Coolmore Stud for A$230,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2013. She is out of the classy Al Akbar mare Vegas Showgirl.

Street Cry, who died as a 16-year-old, had a double on the card as Raiment won a Group 3 handicap.

The son of Machiavellian has also supplied the prolific Grade 1 scorer Zenyatta, Derby third Carlton House, and Domesday Book, who won the Kim Muir Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival on Thursday.

Guineas goes the way of Gingernuts

Gingernuts recorded his second top-flight win in the Rosehill Guineas, with Inference and So Si Bon, both sons of So You Think, filling second and third place.

The son of Iffraaj was following up on his success in the New Zealand Derby earlier this month.

Bred by Goodwood Stud and trained by Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards, the three-year-old was on the outside rounding the home turn before taking the lead a furlong out and staying on strongly to see off the favourite Inference by two and a quarter lengths, with So Si Bon a short head back in third.

Gingernuts, who was picked up by Te Akau Racing for NZ$42,500 (£24,300/€28,200) from Stainley Park at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Two-Year-Olds Sale in 2015, is out of the winning Generous mare Double Elle.

Clean sweep for European-breds in the Ranvet Stakes

The Ranvet Stakes saw a one, two, three for European-breds as Our Ivanhowe, a son of Soldier Hollow, led home Hartnell, a son of Authorized, and The United States, a son of Galileo.

Bred by Gestut Schlenderhan in Germany, Our Ivanhowe is closely related to the dual Fighting Fifth hurdle winner Irving and is out of Prix der Diana third Indigo Girl.

It had almost been 12 months since his last victory in the Doomben Cup, and while in Germany he was trained by Jean-Pierre Carvalho to win the Grosser Preis von Baden and Grosser Preis von Bayern.

Our Ivanhowe is one of three Group 1 winners by Soldier Hollow, who has also sired German Derby victor Pastorius and German Oaks scorer Serienholde. He is also responsible for Arctic Fire who landed the Grade 3 County Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival on Friday.

Soldier Hollow is standing the 2017 breeding season at a fee of €25,000 at Gestut Auenquelle.

One, two for Snitzel in Group 1 Handicap

Snitzel sired the first two home in the Galaxy Handicap, as Russian Revolution saw off Redzel and Jungle Edge, the latter a son of Dubawi, in a closely fought finish in the 5½f sprint.

Racing in the colours of China Horse Club, Russian Revolution improved on his fourth in the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington last October to record his first top-flight success.

Out of the Stravinsky mare Ballet D'Amour, Russian Revolution is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Turbo Miss. The three-year-old colt realised A$320,000 when bought by China Horse Club and Mick Wallace at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in 2015.

The win helped Snitzel past the A$10 million mark at the top of the Australian sires' table.

Makfi makes it three in New Zealand Oaks

Bonneval became the third top-flight scorer by Makfi at Trentham on Saturday, where she took the New Zealand Oaks from Devise, a daughter of Darci Brahma, and Savvy Dreams, a daughter of Savabeel.

Bonneval realised NZ$150,000 when purchased by Baker Racing from Westbury Stud as a yearling at Karaka in 2015.

The filly is out of a useful producer in the Zabeel mare Imposingly, who produced Group 3 scorers Full Of Spirit and Lady Cumquat, from the further family of New Zealand Derby scorer St Reims.

Makfi is also responsible for the dual Group 1 scorer Make Believe, who won both the Poule d'Essai des Poulains and the Prix de la Foret, and Marky Mark, who won the Group 1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes as a juvenile.

The 2,000 Guineas winner relocated to Japan after his sale to the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders' Association last year.
