Sevenna Star followed up his impressive maiden success at Windsor earlier this month with an eye-catching run to get up close home and land the bet365 Classic Trial at Sandown on Friday.

The John Gosden-trained colt made his challenge a furlong out and in the driving rain soon picked up to nab Ispolini by a short-head on the line.

A Gestut Ammerland homebred, Sevenna Star is by outstanding Australian sire Redoute's Choice and out of the Group 3-winning Galileo mare Sevenna - making him a half-brother to three winners in Group 3 scorer Savanne and the Listed-winning pair Samurai and Sassella.

His further family includes German Group 2 scorer Scatina and the southern hemisphere performers Replicator and Golden Treasure. The three-year-old holds entries in the Dante Stakes and the Investec Derby.

Sevenna Star's victory caps off a good week for Arrowfield Stud resident Redoute's Choice in Europe, as he was also responsible for supplying Wednesday's winner of the Prix Servanne, Time's Arrow - a four-year-old son of the stallion owned and bred by the Niarchos family.

The potency of mating Galileo mares to Redoute's Choice has not only been showcased by Sevenna Star this week either, with top Australian trainer Chris Waller sending out The Autumn Sun to win on debut on Wednesday.

The Autumn Sun is a son of Azmiyna, herself a half-sister to Azamour among others, and his victory saw him named Maiden of the Week by ANZ Bloodstock News.
