Outstanding mare Quevega delivers filly foal by Walk In The Park

Six-time Cheltenham Festival heroine Quevega delivered her third foal, a filly by Coolmore's Walk In The Park, in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the Irish National Stud in County Kildare.

It is the second year in a row that Quevega has produced a foal by the sire of top-class performers Douvan and Min, having given birth a colt by him in 2017. She is also the dam of a three-year-old Beat Hollow filly who was purchased by Keatingstown Bloodstock for €50,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale in 2016.

One of a clutch of superstars to have their careers masterminded by Willie Mullins, the daughter of Robin Des Champs began her racing life with Bertrand de Watrigant in France, where she won three bumpers.

After those successes she joined Mullins' Closutton yard and went on to land the David Nicholson Mares' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival six times alongside four victories in the World Series Hurdle at Punchestown for the Hammer And Trowel syndicate.

She was bred by Pierre Rives out of the winning Cap Martin mare Vega IV and is the best performer to have emerged from her family.

A decision on who Quevega will visit in 2018 will be made in the coming weeks by the Hammer And Trowel Syndicate.
