Newgate Farm releases fee for Golden Slipper winner Capitalist

Newgate Farm has announced a fee for its Golden Slipper-winning resident Capitalist, with the son of Written Tycoon being introduced at A$55,000 (£33,910/€40,055).

Newgate Farm managing director Henry Field said: “Naturally with such an impeccable profile we have been inundated with people wanting to book in mares. Having a Golden Slipper-winning champion two-year-old standing at Newgate is what you dream of as a studmaster.

“Capitalist’s initial book will be hand-crafted to give him every opportunity to be the champion stallion I’m confident he will become, with a number of top-class Group-winning and producing mares already committed. We have now finalised his standing arrangements and a limited number of shares have been made available for top breeders.”

Having been bought as a yearling by James Harron and Snowden Racing for A$165,000, Capitalist retired to stud as the winner of four of his seven starts, having claimed the prestigious Listed Breeders’ Plate on debut before going on to become the first colt to land the notable double of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Group 1 Golden Slipper.

Those successes contributed to him becoming the highest-earning two-year-old in racing history, with a prize-money haul of A$3,545,900 (£2,187,280/€2,582,469).
