Makin to stand Group 1 hero Marcel at the National Stud
The son of Lawman won the Racing Post Trophy in 2015
Australian owner Paul Makin, who sensationally dispersed his blueblooded broodmare band at Goffs in 2013, has entered the stallion business by standing Marcel at the National Stud in Newmarket from next year.
Marcel, a son of Lawman, was trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam for Paul Hancock at two last year, when he won a Newcastle maiden by nearly four lengths and the Racing Post Trophy, in which he beat subsequent Criterium International winner Johannes Vermeer by one and a half lengths.
Makin bought Marcel privately at the start of this season but the colt made only one start for him, when last in the 2,000 Guineas.
