Makfi to join Japanese sire ranks after sale by Qatar Bloodstock
Son of Dubawi defeated Goldikova on the track and supplied Classic winner Make Believe at stud
The Japanese stallion ranks are set to be enriched by the addition of Makfi - a Classic winner himself and the sire of Classic winners - after his sale by Qatar Bloodstock to the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders' Association.
Makfi was trained by Mikel Delzangles to win the 2,000 Guineas and the Prix Jacques le Marois, in which he took the scalp of Goldikova, at three for owner Mathieu Offenstadt.
The son of Dubawi was bought to stand under the Qatar Bloodstock banner at Tweenhills Farm and Stud in Gloucestershire, where he spent four seasons before being sent to Haras de Bonneval in Normandy in 2015 and this year in an arrangement with the Aga Khan Studs.
