Longford House Stud add Fuisse to its roster

Hot on the heels of Air Chief Marshal relocating from Normandy to Longford House Stud in County Tipperary, the operation has unveiled another new recruit from France in Fuisse.

Fuisse, an 11-year-old son of Green Tune, notched a victory at the highest level when he beat the likes of Rio De La Plata, Siyouni and Paco Boy to take the Prix du Moulin in 2010.

Bred and owned by Alec and Ghislaine Head and trained by daughter Criquette, he also scored in two Group 3s – the Prix du Chemin de Fer du Nord and Prix Messidor – and finished second to Le Havre in the Prix du Jockey Club.

Since retiring to the Head family's Haras du Quesnay in 2011, Fuisse has supplied numerous winners including High Alpha, who scored in the Listed Criterium du Fonds Europeen de L'Elevage and was second in the Group 3 Prix des Chenes, and Black Max, who is multiple Listed-placed.

The young sire has also started to make his mark with jumps runners, with son Fort Montagu having scored in a maiden hurdle for John Nicholson at Tramore last month.

Indeed, Fuisse is out of the Sillery mare Funny Feerie, a Listed-winning hurdler, which makes him a half-brother to fellow Group 1 hero Full Of Gold. His granndam Funny Pearl was also a Listed scorer over jumps.

Fuisse has been sold to Longford House and a spokesperson said: “He arrived a couple of days ago safe and well. He's a magnificent looking dark bay horse who stands 16.3 hands.”

The deal was brokered by agent Mick Kelly and a covering fee will be announced at a later date.
