Kompany brings a Kool 110,000gns en route to Spanish stud duty
The dual Group 2 winner will begin his second career at Dehesa de Milagro
Popular dual Group 2 winner Kool Kompany was among the familiar names to change hands during Wednesday's session of the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale, with the son of Jeremy now due to take up stallion duties at Felipe Hinojosa's Dehesa de Milagro in northern Spain.
Dominic Mahony landed the winning bid of 110,000gns to deny the likes of David O'Meara and Bobby O'Ryan for the five-year-old with the distinctive white face.
The hardy campaigner won seven races for Richard Hannon, including the Railway Stakes and Prix Robert Papin at two and the Craven Stakes at three.
He spent a brief spell in Australia alongside Winx at Chris Waller's stable, but after an unsuccessful antipodean campaign he returned to Hannon before going on to land this year's Doncaster Mile.
"Felipe is absolutely thrilled to have got him - we didn't think we'd be able to buy him," said Mahony. "Felipe picked him out of the catalogue. He has good conformation and he liked his race record; he had very good two-year-old form and is a genuine horse."
Dehesa de Milagro - currently home to Caradak, the sire of Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere runner-up Noozhoh Canarias, and Pyrus - includes Diktat among its previous residents.
