Jameka in the driving seat for comfortable BMW success

Myboycharlie's talented daughter Jameka landed her third top-flight success on Saturday when demolishing her seven rivals in The BMW over 1m4f at Rosehill by six and a half lengths.

The four-year-old filly had previously won the 2016 Caulfield Cup and the 2015 Crown Oaks at Flemington as well as recording three other successes for trainer Ciaron Maher.

Jameka was bred by Rick Jamieson’s Gilgai Farm, an operation that is no stranger to producing fillies of the very highest calibre, having also bred the iconic Australian sprinter Black Caviar on the boutique farm in Nagambie, Victoria.

She is out of the winning General Nediym mare Mine Game, and is a half-sister to Group 2-placed Snitzel colt Nikitas, while her further family includes the likes of Grade 1 winner Warfever and 2010 Silver Slipper Stakes scorer Chance Bye.

As was Black Caviar, Jameka was offered at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, where Maher signed the docket at A$130,000.

Shuttle stallion Myboycharlie is currently on northern hemisphere duty at Haras du Mezeray in France, where he stands for a fee of €4,500, having returned from his southern hemisphere home at Vinery Stud in the Hunter Valley.

Myboycharlie’s other top-flight scorers are Euro Charline, who landed the 2014 Beverly D. Stakes for Marco Botti and was sold for 750,000gns to Katsumi Yoshida at last year’s Tattersalls December Mares Sale. And Peggy Jean, who landed the 2014 Sires’ Produce Stakes at Randwick.

Chaparral holds the Secret

In the following race at Rosehill the late High Chaparral supplied his 16th top-level winner when the three-year-old filly Montoya’s Secret overcame a rough race to land the Vinery Stud Stakes by a head from Nurse Kitchen.

Bred by Anthony Mithen’s Rosemont Stud, Montoya’s Secret is out of the Thunder Gulch mare Divine Secret and is a half-sister to the Group 3 winner Delago’s Secret.

She was picked up by Bahen Bloodstock and Malua Bloodstock for NZ$130,000 from the 2015 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale.

High Chaparral, who died in December 2014 aged just 15, stood at Coolmore Stud, from where he supplied the likes of So You Think, Free Eagle and Dundeel, all of whom now stand at stud in the southern hemisphere.
