Intello, winner of the Prix du Jockey Club in 2013, got his stud career off to a perfect start on Thursday as his very first runner won on debut in a 5½f juvenile maiden at Tarbes in France.

Trained by Christophe Ferland for the Wertheimer brothers, Sonjeu came home two and a half lengths clear. Bred by the Vidal family, the filly is the third of four foals out of the Montjeu mare Wait And See and was sold for €75,000 at last year's Arqana October Yearling Sale.

Second in a 1m1f Group 3 contest in France, Wait And See is a three-parts sister to the Group 3 Prix Allez France scorer Daksha, out of an unplaced daughter of the top-class Golden Opinion. She also has a yearling Le Havre filly.

Trained by Andre Fabre, Intello won twice at two before becoming champion three-year-old colt in Europe, winning the Jockey Club and finishing third in both the Prix Jacques La Marois and the Arc.

The son of Galileo stood his first two seasons at Cheveley Park Stud before his transfer to Haras du Quesnay, where he is standing at €25,000.
