Hit It A Bomb to explode on the scene at Spendthrift Farm

Hit It A Bomb, the son of War Front whose undefeated two-year-old campaign culminated with success in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, has been retired from racing and will join the stallion roster at B Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farm in Lexington, Kentucky.

Trained by Aidan O'Brien, Hit It A Bomb went undefeated during a three-race two-year-old season, winning a 7f Curragh maiden on debut which was followed by an authoritative four-and-a-half length success in a Dundalk Listed event.

His finest hour came when landing the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf over a mile at Keeneland on just his third outing, showing an impressive turn of foot to defeat 13 rivals.

At three Hit It A Bomb twice reached the frame at Pattern level, firstly in the Group 3 Desmond Stakes and secondly in the Group 2 Boomerang Stakes. His final outing came in the Breeders' Cup Mile at Santa Anita, where he finished a respectable ninth.

Owned and bred by Evie Stockwell, the mother of John Magnier, Hit It A Bomb is by the sire sensation War Front and out of the Group 3-winning Sadler's Wells mare Liscanna,

He is a brother to 2016's leading two-year-old filly Brave Anna, whose three victories include a game success in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes on her final start at two.

On the acquisition, Spendthrift Farm general manager Ned Toffey said: "It has been a priority of ours to be able to offer breeders a top son of War Front through our Share The Upside program. In Hit It A Bomb, we believe we've found that horse. He was an undefeated Grade 1 winner at two, with an electrifying turn of foot that he showed when winning the Breeders' Cup.

"Hit It A Bomb's sister, also a Group 1 winner, is arguably the best two-year-old filly in Europe this year, so the family is loaded with talent. This is a great opportunity for breeders to earn a lifetime breeding right in one of the most promising sons of War Front you will find at stud."

The Share The Upside fee for Hit It A Bomb will be $8,500 on a two-year commitment, and breeders will earn a lifetime breeding right beginning in 2019 after having two live foals and paying the stud fees.

For breeders not interested in the Share The Upside program, Hit It a Bomb will be offered at a fee of $7,000.
