Irish Champion Stakes hero Almanzor will stay in training with Jean-Claude Rouget at four following the purchase of a half share in the son of Wootton Bassett by his breeders, Haras d'Etreham, in partnership with SF Bloodstock.

Owned by Gerard Augustin-Normand and Antonio Caro, Almanzor has aroused plenty of interest among parties keen to stand him at stud and the deal ensures he will continue to advertise his young sire for at least another year on the racetrack.

"There had been offers for the horse from abroad and this affords an opportunity both for Almanzor himself and for Wootton Bassett with the certainty that the horse will run at four," said Etreham director Nicolas de Chambure. "That was one of the motivating factors in our decision to act. It also underlines the desire of SF to return to the French scene."
