Half-brother to Black Hercules declared for Stratford bumper
The gelding is by the same sire as high-class chaser Rolling Aces
Tourboy, a half-brother to Cheltenham Festival scorer Black Hercules, is one of five newcomers declared for the nine-runner bumper at Stratford on Saturday (5.35pm).
Black Hercules looked to have the Grade 2 Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan sewn up last year when falling at the last, however, the gelding quickly made amends when winning the JLT Novices' Chase the following month.
Trained by Mark Fahey, Tourboy will be ridden by Aidan Coleman.
Bred by Spencer Hawkins, Tourboy is by Whitmore's Conn - sire of high-class chaser Rolling Aces - and out of the unraced Bob's Return mare Annalecky. She in turn is a half-sister to the high-class hurdler Indian Scout.
Annalecky also has a three-year-old Shantou colt, a two-year-old Flemensfirth colt and a yearling Ocovango filly.
First start for Minella Foru brother
One who will be hoping for better luck at Navan than Black Hercules is Penny Jane, who is declared for the bumper at the County Meath course five minutes later (5.40pm).
The Gordon Elliott-trained daughter of King's Theatre is a half-sister to Paddy Power Chase winner Minella Foru, out of the winning Topanoora mare Shannon Rose. Other useful hurdlers to appear on her page are Mrs Wallensky, Shannon Glen and Verrazano Bridge.
The five-year-old, who will be ridden by Jamie Codd, was the most expensive of Annalecky's offspring when bought by Kevin Ross from Ballincurrig House Stud for €75,000 as a three-year-old store at the 2015 Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale.
Her first three foals were all by King's Theatre, the other being Sumkindofking who realised £75,000 after winning a point-to-point at Inch and who won twice more in a bumper and hurdle race.
She also has a three-year-old Oscar filly, a two-year-old Yeats colt and a yearling Westerner colt.
