Group-race double part of steady spell of success for Azamour

A Group-race double at Glorious Goodwood and one of the most exciting two-year-old maiden winners seen this season have contributed to a steady spell of success for a stallion whose career on the whole had lacked a little consistency.
Azamour, a son of Night Shift who showed admirable versatility when winning four Group 1 races over distances ranging from a mile to a mile and a half, died after suffering an injury in his box at Gilltown Stud at the age of 13 two years ago.
In his nine years at Gilltown, Azamour covered books of varying sizes. His owner-breeder the Aga Khan and outside breeders sent him 125 mares in his first year, but that number dropped to 70 in his second year, 47 in his third and 59 in his fourth.
