Classic-winning miler Karpino welcomed to Glenview Stud
Five-year-old son of Cape Cross was bred by Gestut Fahrhof
German Classic winner Karpino has been retired and will stand the 2018 breeding season at Glenview Stud in Fermoy, County Cork, where he will join the likes of successful jumps sires Malinas, Robin Des Champs, Shirocco and Sholokhov.
"Karpino is an outstanding-looking individual with plenty of size and substance and should be an exciting prospect for National Hunt breeders," said Paul Cashman of Rathbarry and Glenview Studs.
The five-year-old son of Cape Cross was bred by Gestut Fahrhof out of the Listed-placed Sadler's Wells mare Kahara, a sister to St Leger winner and One For Arthur's sire Milan, from the family of Derby winner and Group 1 sire Kahyasi.
Trained by Andreas Wohler for Qatar Racing, Karpino won on his sole start at two at Hoppegarten, and followed up with two Pattern successes at three, most notably the Group 2 Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen at Cologne – the German equivalent of the 2,000 Guineas.
As a Classic-winning miler bred on the Cape Cross-Sadler's Wells cross, and from a strong staying family of the Aga Khan, Karpino is sure to be of major interest to jumps breeders in Ireland.
A fee for Karpino will be announced at a later date.
