In line with its policy of moving stallions between bases in Britain, Ireland and France, Yorton Farm Stud has leased Gentlewave to stand at Haras du Lion for the 2018 breeding season, with a view to giving him the opportunity to cover a large book of French-bred National Hunt mares.

Gentlewave stood the past three seasons at Yorton Farm, having been relocated from Haras du Thenney, where he was retired to stand in 2007.

The 14-year-old son of Monsun raced six times as a three-year-old for Andre Fabre, winning the 2006 Derby Italiano and finishing a fair second to Dylan Thomas in the Irish equivalent.

"Gentlewave has been represented by twenty individual winners on the Flat and over jumps in France this season, including the exciting La Islaminima in training with Guillaume Macaire, black-type performers including Baguette Magique and also George Gently in training with Dan Skelton," said David Futter, owner of Yorton Farm.

"Haras du Lion is one of the leading National Hunt stud farms in France and we felt that this was a good opportunity to offer the French breeders the chance to use him next year and enable him to cover another good book of mares."
