Frankel brother Noble Mission off the mark with first runner
On A Session is a son of prolific US Listed winner Destiny Calls
It was a case of mission accomplished on Thursday as freshman sire Noble Mission emulated his year-older brother Frankel by getting off the mark as a sire with his first runner.
Cunco won a 6f maiden at Newbury in May 2016 for Frankel, while On A Session was a runaway winner for Noble Mission at Lyon Parilly, winning the Prix des Hortensias maiden over the minimum trip.
The similarities between the pair don't end there, as Noble Mission, who excelled as a five-year-old, followed in the hoofprints of Frankel by winning the Champion Stakes at Ascot in 2014, to add to his successes in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh.
On A Session represented owner Theresa Marnane, trainer Matthieu Palussiere and jockey Antoine Hamelin - the same previous connections behind last year's Albany Stakes heroine Different League.
Motivator gelding Donoratico was four and a half lengths adrift in second, with football star Antoine Griezmann's Siyouni filly Princesa a length and a half back in third.
Bred by Green Lantern Stables in Kentucky, where Noble Mission is standing his fourth season at Lane's End Farm at a $20,000 fee, On A Session is the fourth winner out of the prolific US Listed winner Destiny Calls, a half-sister to stakes-winning milers You'llbeinmyheart and Nowandforevermore.
The colt was purchased by the owner's daughter Amy Marnane for $50,000 from Paramount Sales at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, before being retained for £60,000 at this year's Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale.
Another Noble Mission runner to look forward to on this side of the Atlantic this year is the colt out of Sarah's Secret, picked up by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for £75,000 at the Doncaster breeze-up.
