Ballylinch Stud new recruit New Bay has had his first mares scanned in foal.

The mares in question are Parade Music, a winning Giant's Causeway from the excellent Wildenstein family of Protectionist and Pawneese owned by Jean-Claude Seroul, and Elltaaf, owned by Ennistown Stud and a winning daughter of Invincible Spirit from the family of Celebration Mile hero Afsare.

A Juddmonte homebred, the five-year-old son of Dubawi was trained by Andre Fabre to win five races including the Prix du Jockey Club - in which he beat Highland Reel by one and a half lengths - the Prix Guillaume d’Ornano, the Prix Niel and the Prix Gontaut-Biron.

During his career he also finished second to Make Believe in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains and third behind Golden Horn in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

His sire Dubawi, who is standing at Dalham Hall Stud at a career high fee of £250,000 this year, has supplied 27 Group 1 winners including Arabian Queen, Left Hand, Hunter’s Light and Postponed.

Dubawi already has several sons who stand as stallions including Al Kazeem, Makfi, Night Of Thunder and Poet’s Voice. His stock lit up Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last year where he was responsible for supplying the joint 2.6 million guineas sale-toppers - a colt out of Meon Valley Stud’s Zee Zee Top and a colt out of Philippa Cooper’s Coronation Stakes heroine Fallen For You.

Ballylinch Stud’s John O’Connor said: “New Bay was a top-class racehorse and he has the pedigree, looks and walk to go with it. We have had a lot of success standing Prix du Jockey Club winners and I’m confident New Bay will continue that success.

“The support of shareholders like China Horse Club and Juddmonte Farms has ensure that his first book will be a very high class one and will give him every chance to succeed at stud.
