First mares in foal for dual Group 1 winner
Son of Kyllachy stands at Cheveley Park Stud
Dual Group 1 winner Twilight Son, who took up stallion duties at Cheveley Park Stud this year, has had his first mares scanned in foal.
The five-year-old son of Kyllachy, who was bred by Godfrey and Caroline Wilson out of the winning Bin Ajwaad mare Twilight Mistress, was trained by Henry Candy to win six races including the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and the Haydock Sprint Cup.
His sire Kyllachy also stands at the Newmarket nursery and another son of Kyllachy, Dragon Pulse, did notably well with his first crop of two-year-olds last year.
Stock by Kyllachy was popular in the ring last year where he had 39 yearlings sell for an average of 56,912gns and a top price of 270,000gns.
Twilight Son is a grandson of Cheveley Park Stud stalwart Pivotal, who has proved an excellent source of top-class talent since retiring to stud. To date he is the sire of 25 winners at the highest level and that number includes the Aga Khan’s exciting sire Siyouni, Izzi Top, Maarek, and Oaks heroine Sariska.
Mares set to visit Twilight Son this year include the dams of Sole Power, Penitent, Tariq, Aetna and Supplicant. He will also cover the stakes winners Soar, Firenze and Geesala.
Cheveley Park Stud managing director Chris Richardson said: “I’m delighted Twilight Son has started the stud season so promisingly, having had the first three mares bred to him, scanned in foal. Having impressed at the highest level as a racehorse, Twilight Son continues to be the ultimate professional.
“In this competitive business, we’re very grateful to our friends and breeders for their support and we, like them, are excited by the potential he offers the breeding and racing industry in the future.”
Twilight Son is currently standing his first season at a fee of £10,000.
