Fine Grain to stand at Longford House Stud

Fine Grain, the sire of the promising four-year-old hurdler Fidux, is a new addition to the Irish stallion ranks.

The 14-year-old son of Fuji Kiseki has been purchased by Longford House Stud in County Tipperary in a deal struck by agents Toby Jones and Mick Kelly. He formerly stood at Haras de Lonray in France.

Fine Grain was bred in Japan by Shadai Farm out of Mill Grain, a Polish Precedent sister to Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks heroine Pure Grain.

He was trained by Hiroyuki Nagahama to win the Grade 1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen over 6f at Chukyo and finish third in the Mile Championship.

Fine Grain was retired to Haras de Lonray and his best performer is Fidux, a winner on the Flat in France who has scored twice over hurdles since joining Alan King and finished third in the Grade 2 Adonis Juvenile Hurdle last month.

A fee of €1,500 has been set for Fine Grain, with concessions for a filly foal, and he will stand at Longford House Stud alongside Burwaaz, Brian Boru, Sagramor and Vinnie Roe.
