Finche flies home to become a tenth Pattern winner for Frankel
Half-brother to Byword and Proviso lands Prix Eugene Adam
The day after Enable completed the Oaks double at the Curragh, another classy Juddmonte homebred flourished in the 1m2f Group 2 Prix Eugene Adam for three-year-olds at Maisons-Laffitte on Sunday to become the tenth Pattern winner for Frankel as a sire.
Trained by Andre Fabre and ridden by Vincent Cheminaud, Finche was half a length clear of the Zoffany colt Afandem at the line, with the Pivotal colt Avilius a length and a quarter back in third.
Volfango, a Dutch Art half-brother to Vadamos who was two from two going into the race, challenged on the outside but could only muster fourth.
Finche is the tenth foal out of the placed Woodman mare Binche, making him a half-brother to Proviso, a prolific Grade 1-winning mare in the US, and Byword, who defeated Twice Over to win the 2010 Prince of Wales's Stakes.
Badgers Bloodstock picked up Finche's year-older Dansili half-sister Adjective for 110,000gns at last year's Tattersalls December Mares Sale and she has since won on her only start for trainer James Fanshawe.
Fabre is familiar with the family, having also trained Finche's granddam Binary to win a Listed contest in France.
Binche has also produced a two-year-old brother to Finche named Hainaut, a Bated Breath yearling colt, and has a filly foal by Dansili - a sister to Proviso - at foot.
Frankel's progeny are no strangers to success in France as he also supplied Group 3 scorers Frankuus, Last Kingdom and Toulifaut there.
