Emerging jumps sire Vision D'Etat switched to Haras de Cercy
Four-time Group 1 winner is in demand with breeders
Brilliant middle-distance performer Vision D'Etat will be a new name on the roster at Haras de Cercy in central France, one of the leading jumps stallion operations in the country, next year.
The 12-year-old son of Chichicastenango spent the first five seasons of his stallion career at Haras de Grandcamp and moved to Haras de Treban for this year.
Vision D'Etat has since emerged as a useful source of jumpers, with his daughter De Bon Coeur one of the best young hurdlers in France.
The decision to move the stallion to Cercy was taken by his co-owners Victoria Libaud, Jacques Detre – whose silks De Bon Coeur carries – and Thierry Cypres, head of the organisation's stallion committee.
Detre told Jour de Galop: “We’d like to thank Fabien Le Cam and Pierrick Pouzol of Haras de Treban for their great job this season, when Vision d’Etat covered 107 mares.
“When he arrived at Treban last year he was losing momentum, but then his offspring just bloomed - especially at Auteuil, courtesy of De Bon Coeur. Since then, he’s been a consistent and promising sire, having had many decent winners both on the Flat and over jumps.
“Consequently, we thought it’d be good for the horse to take this opportunity and place him in one of France’s biggest National Hunt studs. His arrival at Cercy is thanks to Thierry Cyprès, who is also a long-time friend and work partner.”
Vision D'Etat, a half-brother to the smart chaser Milan Deux Mille, was trained by Eric Libaud to beat Famous Name and Natagora to win the Prix du Jockey Club. At four he notched three more Group 1 successes in the Prix Ganay, Prince of Wales's Stakes and Hong Kong Cup.
The best representative of Vision D'Etat on the Flat is the Ian Williams-trained Listed scorer Speedo Boy.
He will stand at Haras de Cercy in 2018 at a fee of €4,000, with stands and nurses terms.
