Dartmouth's half-brother to stand at Haras du Hoguenot

Manatee, a half-brother to Hardwicke Stakes scorer Dartmouth, will stand at Haras du Hoguenot in northern France, where he will be introduced at a fee of €3,000 for the 2017 breeding season.

Antony Baudouin of Haras du Hoguenot, told Jour De Galop: "He gives France the chance to start the career of a stallion offering such a pedigree at an attractive price.

"Besides his pedigree and his performances, he is a very nice model and has a beautiful action."

Trained by Andre Fabre, Manatee was a high-class racehorse in his own right.

The six-year-old son of Monsun won the Group 2 Prix du Conseil de Paris at three, and the Group 2 Grand Prix de Chantilly from Prince Gibraltar at four, for which he was given a Racing Post Rating of 120.

Manatee ran four times at the highest-level, most recently finishing a close fourth behind Silverwave in the Grand Prix de Saint Cloud last July.

Bred by Darley out of Group 3-winning mare Galatee, by Galileo, Manatee is a half-brother to the Listed winner Gaterie, also trained by Fabre. They hail from a famous Wertheimer family which also features Arcangues and Aquarelliste on the page.

Galatee has also produced Demophon, a three-year-old colt by Oasis Dream and Desert Breeze, a two-year-old filly by Dubawi.
