Dark Angel's son Lethal Force off the mark as a stallion

Queen Of Kalahari wins on her third run of the season

Cheveley Park Stud resident Lethal Force was the latest of this year's first-season sires to post the first winner of his stud career when his daughter Queen Of Kalahari broke her maiden at Leicester on Monday evening.

The Charlie Hills-trained filly was winning on her third attempt and showed a quick turn of foot to score by one length.

She was bred by Minster Stud out of the winning Oasis Dream mare Aromatherapy and is related to three winners. Her further family includes Sprint Cup heroine African Rose, who is the dam of Frankel's Group 3 scorer Fair Eva, and Dewhurst Stakes winner Distant Music.

Offered as a yearling at last year's Goffs UK Premier Sale, she was picked up by BBA Ireland for £15,000.

Lethal Force, an eight-year-old son of the commercially popular Dark Angel, was trained by Clive Cox to win both the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and the July Cup as a four-year-old.

Retired to the Newmarket nursery, he covered a book of 127 mares and at auction last year, his yearlings were well received with a colt out of the Act One mare Nutkin fetching 160,000gns from Peter and Ross Doyle at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Sale.
