Dam of Oaks-placed Harlequeen to visit No Nay Never

Aurelia, the dam of the dual Oaks-placed Harlequeen, is set to visit No Nay Never this year.

The 16-year-old daughter of Rainbow Quest was rested last year by breeder Richard Moses following a late foaling to War Command.

Aurelia is out of the Listed-placed Shirley Heights mare Fern, who in turn is out of the triple Group 2 winner Free Guest. She was bought by Moses from Kirtlington Stud for 50,000gns at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale in 2005.

The mare was a two-year-old maiden winner for trainer Sir Mark Prescott, and has produced four winners from seven runners as a broodmare.

Harlequeen, a daughter of Canford Cliffs, won her maiden impressively as a two-year-old and at three was third in both the Oaks and Irish Oaks.

Moses said: “Nobody was interested in Harlequeen as a foal, they all thought she was too small. Gill Richardson took the plunge for Mick Channon. She certainly might be small but she's got the ability.”

Richardson paid 32,000gns for Harlequeen from Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

The other three winners Aurelia has produced are the prolific Dundalk scorer Six Silver Lane, Aurorian and Wardell. She also has a War Command yearling who is due to go the sales in October.

Explaining the decision to send her to the Prix Morny winner No Nay Never, Moses said: “In my eyes, No Nay Never is very correct and has nice feet. Both No Nay Never and Excelebration have exceptional feet.”

The son of Scat Daddy is standing his third season at Coolmore at a fee of €17,500, and his oldest crop are now yearlings.
