Colt from world-class family set for debut at Leicester on Sunday
Son of War Front is out of Peeping Fawn's dam
Only seven horses contest the 7f novice stakes at Leicester on Sunday but the presence of a colt as well bred as Comrade In Arms makes it is a race to watch.
The juvenile son of War Front, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, is a three-parts brother to the illustrious Peeping Fawn, four times a winner at the highest level for Aidan O'Brien; and a half-brother to Group 1-winning juvenile Thewayyouare.
Like his siblings, he will line up in the colours of the Coolmore partners, having been bred by Barnett Enterprises out of the Group 1-placed Sadler's Wells mare Maryinsky. The family has been active this summer through Peeping Fawn's daughter, the Deep Impact filly September, winner of the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
Maryinsky herself is out of the dual Grade 1 winner Blush With Pride and is a half-sister to Better Than Honour, the dam of Belmont Stakes hero Jazil and four-time Grade 1 heroine Rags To Riches. Under the next dam, Best In Show, the top-class performers found elsewhere in the pedigree include Xaar, Spinning World, El Gran Senor and Redoute's Choice.
Crossed with Sadler's Wells mares, War Front has to date produced four winners from five runners – the best being Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf scorer Hit It A Bomb.
