Class and stamina aplenty in Lah Ti Dar's pedigree points to Oaks chance

The unbeaten filly is by Dubawi out of Dar Re Mi

Lah Ti Dar soared to the head of the market for the Investec Oaks on Sunday after she maintained her unbeaten record with a second impressive success in the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket.

Her Epsom claims are underpinned by a pedigree that screams Classic potential. She is by Dubawi, the sire of 35 Group/Grade 1 winners and a whopping 218 stakes performers.

Admittedly Dubawi is yet to supply the winner of either Epsom Classic, but he was represented by Lady Of Dubai, who finished a close third behind Qualify in the 2015 Oaks.

Lah Ti Dar was bred by Watership Down Stud, the operation of prominent owners Andrew and Madeleine Lloyd-Webber. She is the fourth foal out of Dar Re Mi, who carried Lord Lloyd-Webber's familiar pink and grey silks to victory in three Group 1s, namely the Pretty Polly Stakes, Yorkshire Oaks and Dubai Sheema Classic.

Dar Re Mi has produced two other winners, the Group 3-placed De Treville and Lah Ti Dar's sister So Mi Dar, who won the 2016 Group 3 Musidora Stakes before finishing a close third behind Speedy Boarding in the Prix de l'Opera.

Middle distance Group 1 performers are in rich supply as you head back through Lah Ti Dar's family, as her dam is out of the Aga Khan's 1986 Prix Vermeille winner Darara, who produced eight black-type performers, including six stakes winners. Chief among those are Dar Re Mi, and her Group 1-winning half-brothers Rewilding and Diaghilev.

Darara, meanwhile, is a half-sister to the likes of French Derby winner Darshaan and the Group 2 Prix de Royallieu winner Dalara, the dam of Hong Kong Vase and Coronation Cup winner Daliapour.

As a daughter of Dubawi out of a Singspiel mare, Lah Ti Dar is bred on a cross that has now supplied eight stakes winners, including dual Group 1 winner Wuheida - who also landed the Dahlia Stakes on Sunday's card - and the Prix Vermeille winner Left Hand.

The Dubawi over Singspiel mating is a pattern that provides inbreeding to the influential mare Sunbittern - the fourth dam of Dubawi and maternal granddam of Singspiel's sire In The Wings - as well as Shirley Heights.

With stamina and class both found in abundance in Lah Ti Dar's pedigree, the sky could well be the limit for this upwardly mobile three-year-old.
