Cityscape and Dawn Approach make it two stakes winners apiece

Sophomore sire Cityscape sired his second stakes winner on Sunday after The Broghie Man fended off the late challenge of Excelebration colt Speak In Colours to win the 5½f Listed Committed Stakes at Navan.

The victory came just 24 hours after Cityscape recorded his first black-type winner with Dan's Dream powering clear to win the Fred Darling Stakes at Newbury over seven furlongs.

The Broghie Man, a three-year-old gelding, added his name to a roll of honour that includes Khukri and Washington DC. Trained by Adrian Keatley and ridden by Gerald Mosse, he was a €7,000 purchase for BBA Ireland at the second part of the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale.

Bred by Whitsbury Manor Stud, The Broghie Man is the first of three known foals out of Suelita, winner of four races in Italy and half-sister to the Cornwallis Stakes runner-up Veloge. Suelita has also produced a two-year-old Mukhadram colt and a yearling filly by Pivotal.

Cityscape, the best offspring of top-class miler Selkirk on Racing Post Ratings with a mark of 126, is standing his fifth season at Overbury Stud at a £4,500 fee.

Fellow second-season sire Dawn Approach joined the party later on as his daughter Mary Tudor won the Listed Salsabil Stakes over 1m2f to become his second stakes winner after Group 3-winning miler Musis Amica.

Trained by Willie McCreery and ridden by Billy Lee, Mary Tudor led home a one-two for Darley stallions with Iffraaj filly Hazel Bay in second and Princess Yaiza, a daughter of former Darley stallion Casamento, in third.

A Godolphin homebred, Mary Tudor showed plenty of promise without ever winning in three juvenile starts last year and following Sunday's Listed success looks increasingly likely to take up one or more of her engagements in the fillies' Classics.

Mary Tudor was bred out of the Group 3-placed Kaldounevees mare Antiquities, a daughter of French Listed winner Historian. Antiquities also has a yearling Shamardal colt, who has been exported to the US.
