Chantilly maidens throw up clues for the Prix de Diane
Aiguillon also entered the Grand Prix de Paris picture
Two homebred fillies entered the Prix de Diane picture at Chantilly on Monday, as Baiyouna and Baltic Duchess both got off the mark in their respective maidens.
The Aga Khan's Baiyouna ran out a comfortable one and three-quarter length winner of the 1m3f Prix du Pavillon de Manse for unraced three-year-old fillies.
The daughter of Sea The Stars is trained by Alain de Royer-Dupre, who also trained her half-brother Bayrir, a son of Medicean, during the earlier part of his racing career to win the Group 2 Prix Eugene Adam and the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes.
The pair are out of the winning Darshaan mare Balankiya, a half-sister to Balakheri, winner of the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot, and Baliyana, who landed the Group 3 Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial.
Balankiya also has a two-year-old Redoute's Choice filly named Balannjar.
Half an hour earlier, it was Gestut Ammerland's homebred Baltic Duchess who sparkled, with the Prix du Diane entry winning by a short head from stablemate Spindrift in the mile Prix du Chateau maiden for three-year-old fillies.
Both are trained by Andre Fabre, who also trained Baltic Duchess' siblings Baltic Baroness, who won the Prix Vermeille - a key fillies' trial for the Arc, and Baltic Comtesse, who was second in a Group 3 at Deauville.
Baltic Duchess, a daughter of Lope De Vega, is a half-sister to Baltic Rock, a son of Rock Of Gibraltar who won a Listed Derby trial in Germany.
That quartet are out of the winning Sadler's Wells mare Born Wild, who also has a two-year-old Shamardal colt and a yearling Sea The Stars colt in Germany.
Born Wild is out of the top-class Acatenango mare Borgia, who won the Grosser Preis von Baden and the German Derby, as well as finishing second in the Breeders' Cup Turf and German Oaks.
Lope De Vega recorded his fourth Group 1 winner on Saturday when Vega Magic scored in the prestigious Darley Goodwood sprint at Morphettville.
Group 1 hope for New Approach
Aiguillon dismissed his 11 opponents in the Prix de Joinville - a 1m3f maiden contest for unraced three-year-old colts and geldings - and the exciting prospect holds an entry in the Grand Prix de Paris on July 14.
Bred by Haras Du Mezeray and Lady O'Reilly's Skymarc Farm and owned by Comte Andre de Ganay, the New Approach colt looks likely to become the seventh performer out of the Silver Hawk mare Aiglonne with a Racing Post Rating of 100 or more.
Aiguillon is a three-parts brother to the Galileo mare Aigue Marine, a two-time Grade 3 winner in the US who was also trained by Nicolas Clement in the early part of his racing career.
Aiguillon is a half-brother to Democrate and Mekhtaal, both of whom are on the roll of honour of the Group 2 Prix Hocquart, as well as the Listed-placed Apophis and Crosswind. The colt realised €210,000 at the 2015 Arqana August Yearling Sale.
Aiglonne, who has produced eight winners from as many foals, also had a two-year-old Dawn Approach filly named Miss Aiglonne in France.
Aiglonne, a Group 3 winner in France, is out of the Listed Tyros Stakes scorer and Prix de la Salamandre second Majestic Role, a half-sister to Tattersalls Rogers Gold Cup heroine Fair Of The Furze.
