Champion two-year-old Toormore removed from Darley roster

Toormore, a Group 1-winning son of Arakan, will not the stand the 2017 breeding season at Dalham Hall Stud due to insufficient demand for his services.

James Clarke, assistant racing manager for Godolphin, said: "He wasn't as popular with breeders as we anticipated, and we decided in the best interests of both the horse and our clients to take him off our stallion roster, and a decision has yet to made about what we do with him going forward.

"It might be a possibility he will go back into training, but we haven't discussed that yet."

Bred by BEC bloodstock, Toormore is by Arakan and one of three winners out of the unraced Danetime mare Danetime Out, making him a half-brother to dual Group 2 scorer Estidhkaar, who incidentally is standing his first season at Tara Stud in County Meath at a fee of €5,000.

The pair are from the family of Group 3 winners Peace Girl and Hawridge Prince.

Trained by Richard Hannon, Toormore became champion two-year-old by winning the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and the National Stakes at the Curragh. On his first start at three, he won the Craven Stakes, while at four, he won the Group 2 Lennox Stakes at Goodwood and the Group 2 Topkapi Trophy at Veliefendi.

He often showed his best when fresh, finishing second in the Lockinge Stakes on his first start at four, and winning the Group 2 Bet365 Mile on his first start at five.
