Cauviniere gives its star sire Le Havre significant fee increase

Exciting French sire Le Havre is the subject of a significant fee increase for next year's covering season.

The ten-year-old son of Noverre will stand at €60,000, up from €35,000 this year, at Haras de la Cauviniere in Normandy.

The price rise comes after a season in which he supplied Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and Prix de Diane heroine La Cressonniere, July Cup runner-up and Haydock Sprint Cup third Suedois and Group 3 Prix Vanteaux scorer and Italian Group 1 second Zghorta Dance.

La Cressonniere is Le Havre's second dual French Classic winner after Avenir Certain, who emerged from his first crop.

In total he has sired 17 stakes winners, six of them at Group level, from four crops of racing age, having started out at a €5,000 fee and receiving strong home support throughout his stud career.

Mathieu Alex of Haras de la Cauviniere said: "Le Havre is now known to be a Classic sire having produced two dual Classic winners in three crops of three-year-olds. He has produced 13 stakes horses in 2016 including the undefeated champion La Cressonniere, which is quite extraordinary for a stallion who was standing at €5,000 at the time.

"He is a very young exciting sire, proven on the track and at in the auction ring, with some strong demand at the yearling sales including a half-brother to La Cressonniere sold for €520,000 to Blandford Bloodstock at Arqana in August.

"Le Havre has covered a top-quality book of mares for the last two years and we are very grateful to the breeders who have supported him."

Cauviniere's two other stallions have received small increases in their fees for 2017.

Freshman sire Rajsaman goes to €8,000 from €6,000, with his first crop containing Listed winner Brametot and Group 3 Prix de Conde second Prinz Hlodowig.

The price for Air Chief Marshal, sire of this year's Grand Prix de Paris winner Mont Ormel, is up to €6,000 from €5,000.
