California Chrome dam booked to Uncle Mo

Love The Chase, dam of two-time US Horse of the Year California Chrome, will be covered by Coolmore's outstanding young sire Uncle Mo this year, Tom Ryan of the mare's owners SF Bloodstock has revealed.

Ryan tweeted on Saturday: "Love The Chase, better known as the dam of Califormia Chrome [and] currently in foal to Pioneerof The Nile, will visit another Derby-producing sire in Uncle Mo.

"Her yearling colt by Gainesway sire Tapit is a beauty."

Love The Chase is a 12-year-old winning daughter of Not For Love and maternal granddaughter of the stakes-winning Sir Ivor mare Chase The Dream.

She hit the big time when her first foal California Chrome, the result of her liaison with the unheralded and inexpensive sire Lucky Pulpit, won the first two legs of the Triple Crown in a glittering Classic season in 2014.

After finishing second in the Dubai World Cup he was ruled out for the rest of his four-year-old season due to injury, but came back better than ever at five to take the Dubai World Cup, Pacific Classic and Awesome Again Stakes.

He now stands at Taylor Made Stallions and his first foals are set to arrive in the coming weeks.

Love The Chase's next date, Uncle Mo, stands at Coolmore's Ashford Stud at a fee of $125,000 after supplying five top-level winners among his early crops including the champion two-year-old and Kentucky Derby scorer Nyquist.

Ryan also announced on Twitter that Grade 1 Ashland Stakes dead-heater Rosalind, a $1 million purchase by SF Bloodstock, would visit Rosalind, while Grade 1 First Lady Stakes heroine Zipessa is booked to Medaglia D'Oro.
