Bullet Train supplies first winner as jumps sire

Bullet Train, the high-class three-parts brother to Frankel who was recruited from America for dual-purpose duty at Woodfield Farm Stud in County Waterford this year, is off the mark as a jumps sire.

His first runner in that sphere - Change Of View, from the sire's debut four-year-old crop - scored in a two-mile maiden hurdle at Aiken in South Carolina.

Trained by Katherine Neilson for prominent US National Hunt owner Irvin Naylor, Change Of View won by two and three-quarters of a length from the Irish-bred Sir Percy son Corstorphine.

The gelding, bred by Cary Frommer and Curtis Kenimer out of the Cuvee mare Cheers Darling, had won a maiden claimer over an extended mile at Delaware Park last July.

Bullet Train was a high-class runner himself, winning the Lingfield Derby Trial at three and later playing an important supporting role to his year-younger sibling Frankel by making the pace for him in six Group 1 races.

The son of Sadler's Wells – also a three-parts brother to the triple top-level hero Noble Mission – initially retired to the US, where he has been represented by more than 20 winners on the Flat including Listed scorer Whiskey Train. He has also supplied winners in Australia after shuttling there.

Bullet Train now stands alongside fellow Sadler's Wells stallion Curtain Time at Woodfield Farm Stud, where he has recently had his first Irish mares scanned in foal.

Frankel's first crop is also aged four, and his few cast-offs from the Flat have also fared well over jumps.

The dual world champion is two winners from two hurdle runners. One of those, Solo Saxophone, finished a creditable sixth in the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival this month.
