Bond girl will be the first Frankel offspring to sell at Doncaster
Debut foal out of Ladies Are Forever to light up the ring
A filly who is the debut foal out of high-class sprinter Ladies Are Forever will become the first offspring of Frankel to go under the hammer in Doncaster when she is offered at next month's Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale.
The chestnut is being put up for sale by Charlie Bond, whose father Reg bred Ladies Are Forever from his own talented stallion Monsieur Bond and excellent producer Forever Bond.
The admirably tough Ladies Are Forever was trained by Geoff Oldroyd to carry Reg Bond's silks to victory in eight of her 34 starts, including three renewals of the Group 3 Summer Stakes.
“She was a great racemare and it shouldn't be forgotten she finished third in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot at two, beaten only half a length, even though she was a May foal,” remembered Charlie Bond. “She went on to do great things.”
Bond added the mare's first foal is a fine ambassador for her dam.
“She's a very laid-back filly, which is good as Frankel's stock often seem to have a bit of temperament,” he said. “She's a nice model, neat and compact, with a big backend and a good shoulder. She looks as though she should get anywhere from six furlongs to a mile in time.”
Ladies Are Forever this year produced a filly by Muhaarar who was a late foal, and so the mare has been rested.
Her dam Forever Bond produced five winners from five runners, all of whom scored in the calendar year of 2011 including Stewards' Cup hero and close Haydock Sprint Cup third Hoof It.
Sadly, Forever Bond died aged 17 this year giving birth, with her Kingman foal also lost.
“We were gutted but she had such a good life at stud as we looked after her,” said Bond of the daughter of Danetime.
“She has a two-year-old colt by Frankel [named Rise Hall] who is going into training and we think could be really special. Her last foal is a yearling sister to Ladies Are Forever, who also looks the real deal.”
Explaining why he was offering the filly out of Ladies Are Forever at Doncaster next month, a horse from a family treasured by the Bonds, he added: “We've invested in the mares and now we need to get some money back in.”
Goffs UK managing director Tony Williams said: "The Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale is now widely recognised as a number one choice for the speedier yearlings and we are delighted to offer a very special filly who clearly has all of those credentials.
"The Bond family have been longstanding supporters of sales at Doncaster and we're delightedthey have chosen this sale to offer a filly whose sire needs no introduction.
"Having just sired his tenth individual Group winner from his first crop, he is a stallion who is doing extraordinary things in the breeding shed and this filly comes from a wonderfully fast family, so we are extremely excited to be offering her for sale at the end of August."
The Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale – at which Saturday's July Cup winner Harry Angel was bought by trainer Clive Cox for £44,000 two years ago – takes place on August 29 and 30.
