Bobby's Kitten to shuttle to Twin Hills Stud

Bobby's Kitten, already the first son of Kitten's Joy standing in Europe, is to open another new frontier by shuttling to New South Wales at the end of his debut season at Lanwades Stud.

Olly Tait's Twin Hills Stud announced on Friday that a deal has been completed with Kirsten Rausing's Newmarket operation for the southern hemisphere services of the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint winner.

As a son of the five-time US champion turf sire, the six-year-old will be offered as an outcross option for the many Danehill mares in Australia on the same template as Vancouver and Astern. Both of those recent stars are by Medaglio d'Oro, like Kitten's Joy a son of El Prado.

"Bobby's Kitten is an excellent prospect," Tait said. "He has all the attributes you look for in a stallion. He was a top two-year-old, a Group 1-winning sprinter at three, has an outstanding pedigree and is a magnificent-looking horse, with strength, scope and quality."

Bobby's Kitten is out of the Forestry mare Celestial Woods, already responsible for two other stakes winners by Kitten's Joy. Her dam in turn is a half-sister to three elite turf runners in Paradise Creek, Forbidden Apple and Wild Event.

Among those mares scanned in foal to the rookie sire at Lanwades are Group 3 winner Miss Anabaa and a half-sister to Group 1 winner Casamento. Kenneth Ramsey, his breeder, has also sent over ten mares from Kentucky whose last pregnancies were all by Kitten's Joy.

At Twin Hills Bobby's Kitten will stand at a fee of A$16,500 (£10,122/€11,800).
