Biddestone Stud for sale as Bostwicks rationalise interests
£2 million guide price for operation that produced Mtoto
Biddestone Stud in Wiltshire has come onto the market as Tim and Gill Bostwick, who have run the operation for the last five years, have decided to rationalise their bloodstock interests.
The stud has nurtured many top-class horses including the great Mtoto in the 1980s and this year's Temple Stakes winner Priceless.
Paco's Angel, who was bred by the farm and races for a Biddestone Racing partnership, finished third in the Listed Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot last month.
Tim Bostwick said: “It's been an exciting and rewarding time running Biddestone Stud but the time feels right, from a lifestyle point of view, to make some changes.
"We've been operating from two farms for the last few years and have also established Biddestone Racing as a successful and respected syndicate business.”
Bostwick added he is not exiting the industry altogether.
“Our continued involvement in the breeding industry will be based at our other farm near Cirencester but with a smaller broodmare band, focussed on ever-improving quality," he said.
"We will also board mares in Ireland and France where we have a number of stallion shares and breeding rights. The breeding operation will run alongside Biddestone Racing, which has achieved a lot of success, built a first-class reputation after just a few short years and given the whole team a lot of fun.”
Windsor Clive International and Carter Jonas have been instructed jointly to offer Biddestone Stud for sale.
The property, over 85 acres, comprises a four-bedroom stud groom's house, 30 stables in four ranges including foaling boxes and barn, feed room, office and vet facilities, two horse walkers and lunge ring.
By separate road access is a 15-box new barn complex with internal and outside turnout pens. Across the road are 20 acres of paddocks with isolation boxes. A second house in the village is also available.
The guide price for Biddestone Stud - excluding the house in the village - is £2 million.
