Another Group winner for Frankel as Lightening Quick lands Athasi Stakes
The three-year-old filly is out of Cheveley Park Stakes heroine Lightening Pearl
Frankel saw another new Pattern winner added to his already impressive stud record on Monday when Qatar Racing homebred Lightening Quick ran out a game winner of the Group 3 Coolmore Mastercraftsman Irish EBF Athasi Stakes at Naas.
The three-year-old filly's success brings Frankel's tally of Group winners up to 17, while 37 of his sons and daughters have now confirmed themselves stakes-calibre performers. Frankel's stud CV is, of course, headed by Cracksman, who supplied his sire with a first European Group 1 in last year's Qipco Champion Stakes.
Lightening Quick's stakes-race breakthrough has seen her take the next step towards living up to her illustrious pedigree, as not only is she by the unbeaten ten-time Group 1 winner Frankel, but she is the second foal out of Lightening Pearl.
Later in the afternoon Frankel was represented by an impressive new winner in Silver Quartz, who landed the second division of the Call Star Sports On 08000 521 321 Novice Stakes at Windsor by four and a half-lengths.
The Hugo Palmer-trained three-year-old is a half-brother to three winners, including the Listed-winning Pearl Mix. He was bred by owners Al Asayl Bloodstock out of Rosamixa, a winning daughter of Linamix.
The Frankel - Linamix cross has now been responsible for two winners, with the other being the dual Group 3-winning four-year-old Frankuus.
Rosamixa is a sister to dual Group 2 winner Rajsaman, who is also the sire of dual Classic winner Brametot, and Rosawa, the dam of Prix Marcel Boussac winner Rosanara.
