A treasure chest of priceless pedigrees opened on Wednesday
Deep Impact filly and half-sister to Nezwaah making their debuts
With progeny of Group/Grade 1-winning mares Announce, Ventura and Virginia Waters, as well as a half-sister to this year's Pretty Polly Stakes winner Nezwaah and the latest European representative of Japanese supersire Deep Impact all set to make their debuts on Wednesday, it is like the Flat season never went away.
The first division of the 1m½f fillies' novice stakes (1.15pm) at Wolverhampton is a veritable treasure chest of prestigious pedigrees, featuring the following brilliantly bred newcomers:
- Love Is Enough, Lady Bamford's homebred daughter of Deep Impact - on the mark with Racing Post Trophy hero Saxon Warrior last month - out of the winning Sadler's Wells mare Soinlovewithyou, a three-parts sister to Derby winner Ruler Of The World and half-sister to the brilliant Duke Of Marmalade. She is trained by John Gosden.
- Marie Toulouse, a daughter of Oasis Dream and 1,000 Guineas winner Virginia Waters, bred by Barnett Enterprises and trained by Karl Burke for Maura Gittins after being bought out of the ring as a yearling at Arqana for €140,000.
- Monteja, a Shamardal half-sister to Nezwaah, who took the Pretty Polly Stakes by three and a quarter lengths in July, and representing the same owner and trainer, Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum and Roger Varian.
- Calypso Blue, a Charlie Appleby-trained Godolphin homebred produced on the same Dubawi-Dansili cross as Nezwaah. She is the first foal of Saint-Cloud Listed winner Dark Orchid, who in turn is out of a half-sister to Hernando.
The second division of the same race at 1.45 serves up fewer strikingly well-bred debutantes, although Chloris - a Dansili filly out of the Listed-winning Singspiel mare Primevere - catches the eye representing the Cracksman and Golden Horn team of owner and trainer, Anthony Oppenheimer and John Gosden.
Over in France, Juddmonte unleash two juveniles with magnificent mothers in the colts' and the fillies' running of the 7½f maiden at Deauville.
The colts' version (12.57pm local time, 11.57am GMT) features Broadcast, a son of Distorted Humor out of Prix Jean Romanet heroine Announce trained by Andre Fabre for Khalid Abdullah's operation.
The fillies' race (1.27pm local time, 12.27pm GMT) is graced by At Your Pleasure, also trained by Fabre for Abdullah. She is by War Front, sire of this season's dual Group 1-winning two-year-old US Navy Flag, out of the Chester House mare Ventura, who landed four Grade 1 victories in the US - the Just A Game Stakes, Santa Monica Handicap, Woodbine Mile and Matriarch Stakes.
